If a business is to be successful it must have sufficient numbers of employees who are qualified to perform the required duties. Managing the quantity (through hiring and firing) and quality (through training, compensating, etc.) of employees is an important business function.
Human resources management refers to all the activities involved in determining an organization’s human resource needs as well as acquiring, developing, and compensating people to fill those needs. Human resources management has increased in importance over the last few decades.
Effective human resources managers are aware of changing employee conditions and use them to increase efficiency and productivity. Every manager in an organization practices some of the functions of human resources management at all times.
