0.1 Connect to Your Virtual Desktop

Overview

The Virtual IT Lab provides the course desktop environment and software you will use in later activities. In this assignment, you will connect to the institutional virtual desktop, verify that it opens correctly, and capture one screenshot that clearly shows the virtual desktop running inside your local desktop.

1. Connect to the Virtual IT Lab

  1. On your personal or NTC computer, open NTC Virtual Lab.
  2. Use the current institutional sign-in process. Do not share or capture your password.
  3. Launch the Virtual Computer Lab - IT desktop when it is available.

If the connection or sign-in process does not complete, use the support process provided by the Virtual Lab page or your course before continuing.

2. Verify the Virtual Desktop

Confirm that the virtual Windows desktop opens and that you can see the course workspace or applications you will need later.

Keep the virtual desktop in a window rather than full screen for the evidence step.

3. Capture the Nested-Desktop Screenshot

Resize or position the virtual desktop window so your screenshot clearly shows a desktop window inside another desktop.

4. Submit Your Screenshot to Canvas

Submit the following screenshot directly to Canvas. It must be readable, include enough surrounding context to verify the required evidence, and avoid unrelated or sensitive information.

  1. One screenshot clearly showing the Virtual IT Lab desktop window open inside your local desktop.
